MDF Skirting Boards: Profiles and Sizes
MDF skirting boards are one of the most widely used options in UK interior joinery because they are stable, easy to paint and available in a wide range of profiles and sizes. Our MDF skirting is white primed and ready to receive a top coat of paint, saving time on preparation. Profiles include torus, ogee, ovolo, pencil round, square edge, chamfered and rounded, and grooved, covering the most commonly specified designs in both new builds and renovation projects. Sizes run from 18mm x 44mm up to 18mm x 168mm in standard 4.4m lengths.
Solid Timber Skirting Boards: Redwood and Oak
For a more premium finish, our solid timber skirting boards are available in redwood and American white oak. Redwood is a cost-effective softwood that takes paint or stain well and suits traditional and contemporary interiors alike. American white oak is a harder, more durable option with a pronounced grain, often finished with a clear coat or stain to show the natural wood. Both species are available across the same profile range as our MDF skirting, in nominal sizes from 75mm up to 225mm, with finished dimensions typically 5mm smaller than the stated size.

Choosing the Right Skirting Board Profile
The most popular skirting board profiles in the UK are torus, ogee and pencil round, each suited to different interior styles. Torus has a traditional curved top and flat face, widely used in period and traditional properties. Ogee features an S-shaped curve along its face and is a popular choice for Victorian-style interiors. Pencil round has a simple rounded top edge suited to modern and contemporary spaces. Ovolo, square edge, chamfered and grooved profiles are also available. All profiles are stocked in both MDF and solid timber to suit different project requirements and budgets.
