DIY Shaker Style MDF Wall Panelling Strips are a simple, flexible solution for creating modern Shaker-style wall panelling, feature walls, and wainscoting designs. Supplied as pre-cut MDF strips, they allow you to design a bespoke panel layout to suit your space, whether you’re aiming for a full-height contemporary look or a traditional half-height panelled wall.

Installation is straightforward and achievable with minimal DIY experience. Before ordering, we strongly recommend planning your layout in advance — measuring carefully and using masking tape to mark layout lines on the wall is an excellent way to visualise spacing and proportions before fixing.

We offer a choice of strip widths from 75mm to 150mm (3” to 6”), giving you complete freedom over your design. Strips can be spaced closely for a bold, architectural look or spread wider apart for a lighter, more subtle finish.

For fixing, we typically recommend OB1 adhesive when installing onto solid walls. OB1 can be used both as the fixing adhesive and as a filler between strips, helping to achieve crisp, clean lines once painted. If you’re unsure which adhesive or fixing method is best for your wall type, our team is always happy to advise.

All strips are machined to order from premium Moisture Resistant MDF, available in 6mm or 9mm thicknesses. We do not use standard MDF, as it can absorb moisture and swell over time. Moisture Resistant MDF offers better stability and is suitable for use throughout the home. While MR MDF is more tolerant of moisture, it is not waterproof, so areas exposed to frequent splashes (such as near baths or sinks) should always be finished with a suitable waterproof paint system.

Coverage will vary depending on your chosen layout. Some designs use closely spaced strips, while others opt for wider spacing or half-height panelling. For this reason, coverage and cost per square metre will depend entirely on your design. We recommend spending time planning your layout before ordering. Moisture Resistant MDF is easier to paint than standard MDF, as it absorbs less paint below the surface. In many cases, a specialist MDF primer is not required, but always follow the recommendations of your chosen paint manufacturer.
