75mm x 75mm x 2.4m Pressure Treated Fencing Arris Rail is a key structural component used in traditional feather edge fencing. Designed to be fixed between fence posts, arris rails provide a strong and secure fixing surface for feather edge boards, helping create a rigid and long-lasting fence.
Pressure treated with preservatives to enhance resistance to rot and insect attack, these arris rails are suitable for external fencing use when installed correctly. The triangular profile is specifically designed to shed water efficiently, unlike square fence rails where water can sit on the surface and lead to premature rot or dirt build-up. This makes arris rails the preferred choice for feather edge fencing.
For standard feather edge fencing installations, we recommend using four arris rails on 1.8m and 2.4m high fencing to provide adequate strength and support. When installed with the flat face towards the feather edge boards, the rail offers a solid nailing surface, while the angled faces should point away from the fence to encourage water run-off.
Arris rails are most commonly installed using dedicated arris rail brackets, which fix securely into the fence post and rail to create a clean, strong joint. This method is quick, accurate, and ideal for both DIY fencing projects and professional installations.
To maximise service life, it is recommended that all sides of the arris rail are coated with a suitable fence paint or seal, helping reduce the risk of splitting, warping, and long-term moisture damage.
