75mm x 225mm (9 x 3) Sawn Kiln Dried C24 Timber is a high-strength structural carcassing timber designed for demanding construction applications where known load performance and reliability are essential. Strength graded to C24, this timber is suitable for heavier loads and longer spans compared to standard C16 timber.

C24 carcassing timber is kiln dried to 20% moisture content or less, helping to improve straightness, stability, and overall performance in line with UK building regulations. It is stress graded either at source to BS 4978 or visually graded by qualified stress graders, ensuring consistent structural quality.

This timber is regularised, meaning it has been planed all round to produce consistent sizing and easier installation. Regularised timber typically finishes approximately 2mm off nominal thickness and 5mm off nominal width, with eased (rounded) corners for safer handling and improved fixing accuracy. A nominal 75mm x 225mm section finishes at approximately 73mm x 220mm.

C24 timber is commonly used for floor joists, roof rafters, beams, lintels, decking substructures, and load-bearing frameworks, particularly where longer spans or increased strength are required. It is widely specified in structural calculations and building control applications.

While timber sizes are listed in metric to comply with UK retail standards, imperial equivalents are also referenced for ease of identification. Always use metric measurements when planning and installing.

Why choose C24 over C16:
• C24 is graded to a higher structural standard than C16
• Typically around 50% stronger than C16
• Better suited to longer spans and heavier loads
• Produced from slower-grown timber with a tighter grain structure
