58mm x 28mm x 3900mm Engineered Oak Baserail for Glass Brackets is a premium stair and balustrade component designed for modern glass balustrade systems. Intended for use as a base rail with glass brackets or clamps, it provides a clean, minimal foundation while maintaining the warmth and appearance of real oak.
Constructed using a glue-laminated engineered oak core, this baserail offers excellent strength and dimensional stability while reducing the waste and cost associated with traditional solid oak. Laminated construction significantly reduces the risk of twisting, splitting, and cracking, with glued joints often proving stronger than a single solid section of timber.
Each baserail features a solid real oak outer face, bonded to the core before machining. This solid outer layer runs the full length of the rail and is substantially thicker than standard veneer, allowing the surface to be sanded and refinished over time without the risk of wearing through to the core. This makes it far more suitable for everyday use than veneered alternatives.
As with all engineered oak products, a fine joint will be visible where the solid outer faces meet. These joints are carefully grain-matched and tightly finished and are typically only noticeable on close inspection. Once installed and finished, most people would not distinguish this from a solid oak baserail.
The baserail can be finished in exactly the same way as solid oak, including oiling, staining, or varnishing. As with all oak products, it is recommended to test any finish on an off-cut or hidden area before full application.
Ideal for glass balustrades, staircases, landings, and contemporary interior designs, this engineered oak baserail delivers the appearance of solid oak with improved stability and long-term performance.
