47mm x 200mm (8 x 2) Sawn Kiln Dried & Regularised C24 Graded Timber is a high-performance structural softwood section designed for long spans and heavy load-bearing construction. Strength graded to C24, this timber delivers reliable, predictable performance where structural integrity is critical.
Kiln dried to a moisture content of 20% or less, this C24 carcassing timber offers excellent stability, reduced movement, and improved straightness once installed. The regularised finish (planed all round) ensures consistent sizing, typically finishing at approximately 45mm x 195mm, with eased edges for safer handling and easier fixing.
This 8 × 2 C24 timber is commonly used for floor joists, roof rafters, purlins, beams, and load-bearing structural framing, particularly in situations where longer spans or higher loads rule out smaller sections. It is also widely used in decking subframes, loft conversions, and commercial construction where C16 timber may not meet specification.
C24 timber is sourced from slower-grown regions, resulting in a tighter grain structure and increased strength. Compared to C16, C24 timber is approximately 50% stronger, making it the preferred choice for structural calculations and Building Control approval.
