Fitting and handling

Allow the timber to acclimatise in the room where it will be fitted for at least 48 hours before fixing, particularly in heated or humid environments such as kitchens, to minimise movement after installation. Fix with screws or oval nails through the face or use construction adhesive on boxing-in work, ensuring any cut ends are sealed if the board is close to moisture. For a painted finish, a primer coat applied to all faces, including the back face, will help maintain stability and reduce the risk of warping over time.
