Smooth, Stable MDF Boards for Painted Finishes
MDF sheets are one of the most widely used board materials for interior projects across the UK. The smooth, consistent surface takes primer and paint cleanly without the grain-raising you get with solid timber, making MDF the standard choice for painted cabinets, shelving, mouldings and furniture. Our MDF boards are available in common thicknesses from 6mm to 25mm and come in a standard 2440 x 1220mm sheet. The uniform density throughout means MDF cuts cleanly on a saw and machines well for routed edges and detailed profiles, with minimal tearout on clean, sharp tooling.
Moisture Resistant MDF and Sheet Options
Standard MDF is suited to dry interior applications. For areas where moisture is a factor, moisture resistant MDF (also known as MR MDF or green MDF) is available, treated to reduce the risk of swelling or degrading in damp conditions. This makes it a better choice for kitchen unit carcasses, bathroom cabinetry and any interior joinery near a water source. It should not be used for external applications, but performs well in consistently humid indoor environments where standard MDF would fail over time.
