Fitting and handling

Allow the boards to acclimatise in the room where they will be fitted for at least five to seven days before fixing, particularly in centrally heated interiors where moisture content fluctuates. Fix using appropriate adhesive or countersunk screws, ensuring fixings are set back from edges to prevent splitting in this dense hardwood. American White Oak responds well to oils, hardwax finishes, and clear lacquers applied to a clean, sanded surface, so avoid contamination from handling oils during installation.
