Rustic Oak naturally contains knots, splits, checks and grain variation. These natural imperfections make it unsuitable for joinery or construction work, but they are exactly what give each mantel its unique, authentic character. No two pieces will ever look the same, making your finished fireplace truly one of a kind.

Each mantel is individually machined, planed and finished in-house to achieve a clean, high-quality surface while still retaining the rustic charm of the timber. Because we mill these to order, we can adjust them to suit your project:

These mantels can be fixed using a variety of methods, including floating shelf fixings, hidden brackets, screws, dowels or decorative supports, depending on your desired look. You can also combine multiple beams to create a full fireplace surround, as shown in our product images.

These are natural hardwood products, and the final appearance will vary. The photos shown online are examples only. Every piece may include splits, cracks, knots, voids or uneven grain — all part of the rustic aesthetic and not considered defects. Our team will never send out a structurally unsound item, but some pieces will naturally be more rustic than others.

Dimensions listed on the website are nominal starting sizes. After planing and finishing, the final size is typically 5mm to 10mm smaller on each dimension. For example, a 100mm x 100mm beam may finish between 85mm and 95mm depending on how much material is removed to achieve a clean surface.
